I have been working in the field of oil and gas for 23 years. I have gained considerable experience in Process Safety through my work. This experience was broadened through my work in the processing factories, refineries, compression stations, and different operation areas, inside Egypt and abroad, as well as, through working in different phases of oil and gas projects (design, construction, commissioning and startup, and operation). Throughout my career development, I have occupied various positions inside Egypt and abroad, ranging from a Junior Safety Engineer, passing through Risk Assessment Department Head, the Safety and Process Safety Manager for the Arab Gas Pipeline and the Compression Station in Jordanian royal, the Projects Safety Assistant General Manager and QRA team leader, up to Risk Management, QRA Team Leader and Loss Prevention studies Executive General Manager for GASCO, one of the leading companies in Egypt in the field of natural gas processing & transmission. I joined the Egypt Ministry of Petroleum (MoP) OH&S and Process Safety Capacity Building Program wave one, and I have been selected as one of the top 10 candidates. I am a member of the Egypt (MoP) PSM Technical Committee, and I have contributed to creating and reviewing Egypt Oil and Gas 24 PSM standards & guidelines, as well as the roll-out of some of these documents among the sector companies. I am a member of the EGPC Process Safety audit team, and I have joined several PSM audit missions at different companies. I joined Alexandria University for two years as a Risk Management Lecturer for postgraduate students (safety master’s degree). I am a member of the PS training committee, responsible for establishing the PS foundations training courses and handouts for the different oil and gas companies’ candidates. I am a certified tutor for NEBOSH PSM & IGC I participated as a technical panellist in the Process Safety Capacity Building wave two to select the calibre candidates. I am a member of the EGPC Synergi Life software customization team, to digitize the HSE and PS among the sector companies. My scope of work includes but is not limited to, the PSM gap analysis, auditing, and implementation. Execution and reviewing the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies, the barrier management (Bowtie) assessment, and the process safety incident investigation using different RCA techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, FTA, and Causation Model), as well as I have considerable experience using different PS software e.g., Phast for consequence modelling, Safeti for QRA, Synergi life, and Bowtie XP. I obtained a number of technical and soft skills certificates and training courses inside Egypt and abroad, and in my turn, I have shared this knowledge through delivering a lot of such courses inside Egypt and abroad.
