Mariam Mohamed Farouk Yassin is a highly motivated and accomplished professional with a strong background in sustainable development planning and environmental governance. Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Mariam has always had a passion for finding innovative solutions to address the challenges of climate change and promote sustainable growth.
Mariam's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Chemistry from Al-Azhar University in 2007. Eager to further her knowledge and expertise, she pursued a TQM Diploma from the National Quality Institute in 2015. She continued her studies and obtained a Master's degree in Sustainable Development Planning from the Institute of National Planning in 2021, with a research focus on the role of green sustainable manufacturing in the oil and gas field towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Throughout her career, Mariam has gained valuable experience in various industries. From 2007 to 2013, she worked in the Operations Department of the Egyptian Styrene and Polystyrene Production Company (ESTYRENICS), where she played a vital role in project licensing, process flow, and mechanical equipment reviews. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality ensured the successful completion of the polystyrene plant commissioning and start-up.
In 2019, Mariam joined the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) and has been an integral part of the Technical Affairs and Technology Department. Her contributions include participating in the development of a low-carbon strategy for the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. She has also been involved in sustainable fuel projects, conducting research, evaluating new project licenses, and managing consultants and contractors.
Mariam's dedication to quality and continuous improvement led her to take on roles in the Quality Department at ECHEM. She worked as an assessor for the Egypt Government Excellence Award and served as a Lead Auditor for ISO 45001:2018. Her expertise in statistical analysis and quality performance measurement has been instrumental in driving organizational excellence.
In addition to her professional achievements, Mariam has continually pursued personal and professional development opportunities. She holds several international certificates and diplomas, including Green Hydrogen Economics and Project Development Program, Macroeconomics of Climate Change, and Lead Auditor certifications for ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015. She has also completed various courses and technical trainings, ranging from business development to supply chain management and Six Sigma methodologies.
Outside of work, Mariam enjoys reading, photography, and traveling. She believes in the power of effective communication and interpersonal skills, which have enabled her to collaborate successfully with diverse teams and stakeholders. Her problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills have consistently contributed to the achievement of project goals and objectives.
